News: Opportunities are Looking Brighter on the Other Side of the Pond

This month the UK housing market has been described by leading experts as 'lethargic'.
The damaging description was made by property website RightMove but they're not alone
in offering caution to investors in the UK who are thinking of moving into the property
market. According to a recent survey, only 14 homes per estate agent in the UK were sold
in the three months leading to August 2011. Figures this low haven't been seen since the
summer of 2009.
These descriptions and figures will be worrying for those thinking of investing in the UK's
property market. However, on the other side of the pond in the United States there are
very different opportunities available for those who are willing to invest abroad.
In America the housing market has virtually bottomed out which presents two opportunities
for foreign investors. Firstly, there are plenty of foreclosed properties that can be bought
for near rock bottom prices. Secondly, as the housing market in the States has almost
bottomed out it's highly likely that properties bought at discount prices will rise signi?cantly
in the coming months and years.
In cities like Detroit and Atlanta there are strong indicators that the economy is beginning
to turn the corner. Big businesses in Atlanta are becoming busier and the manufacturing
giants in Detroit have been offered huge economic stimulus packages by the government
to help kick start the local economy.
